The Challenges and the Need
Hearing loss is a global issue that is often overlooked. Traditional solutions, such as hearing aids, are often stigmatized and unappealing, especially in noisy environments. Pulse Audition identified this need and decided to create a solution that not only improves hearing but does so with style and discretion.
The Vision of Pulse
Pulse Audition envisioned smart glasses that integrate artificial intelligence and advanced hardware to amplify only the speaker’s voice, enabling smooth conversations even in noisy environments. This elegant and discreet solution aims to destigmatize hearing aids and make them accessible to a wider audience.
The glasses use advanced algorithms to filter out background noise and amplify voices, providing an enhanced auditory experience. The discreet and elegant design of the glasses makes them not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing, moving away from the stigmas associated with traditional hearing aids.
The Contribution of ADVANS Group
After co-creating the company through its innovation subsidiary ADVANS Lab, ADVANS Group provided comprehensive technical support, including:
- Firmware development: expertise in embedded engineering to optimize the performance of the smart glasses.
- Software development: creation of embedded software and applications to manage the functionalities of the glasses.
- Rapid prototyping: use of cutting-edge technologies for the development and testing of prototypes carried out at the Sophia Hack Lab, a hackerspace partner of ADVANS Group.
- Benchmarking: in-depth analysis of competing products through disassembly and documentation of features and mechanical and electronic architecture.
- Testing infrastructure: setting up platforms to test and validate audio processing algorithms.
- Strategic support: advice and guidance to align technical development with business objectives.
Acquisition by EssilorLuxottica
With the support of ADVANS Group, Pulse Audition overcame many technical challenges and succeeded in developing a functional prototype. The project has been awarded several innovation prizes, strengthening its credibility and potential. The acquisition by EssilorLuxottica, announced at CES Las Vegas 2025, marks a new step, with a launch planned in the United States later this year.
